Winter Fun

A steaming mug of hot cocoa. Flames glowing red orange in the fireplace. And all the down bedding you could ever wish for. Winters at Breadloaf Mountain Lodge are cozy and inviting no matter what the temperature may be outside.

The Litchfield Hills offer plenty to do during the winter months. From skiing and snowboarding at nearby Mohawk Mountain to snow shoeing and cross country skiing through quiet wooded trails in the area, Breadloaf Mountain Lodge is the perfect spot from which to explore the many snowy pleasures to be found in Litchfield County. We can even arrange a morning of ice fishing on any number of local lakes, complete with a hut and a cooler filled with your favorite beverage. Just don't forget your boot warmers!

We are pleased to partner with Mohawk Mountain in offering our guests attractive ski packages, so please click here for more information. Mohawk, a five minute drive from Breadloaf Mountain Lodge, is a great place to introduce kids to skiing--they boast an extensive ski school. And Friday nights under the lights is a fun way to kick off your weekend getaway.

Litchfield County is home to excellent cross country skiing as well. Close to our property you will find trails in Housatonic Meadows State Park, Sharon Audubon Center and Mohawk State Forest. And if you are interested in going further afield, there are miles upon miles of trails at White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield, Macedonia Brook State Park in Kent and Dennis Hill State Park in Norfolk.

So bundle up and get ready to explore the Litchfield Hills in winter, because the local scenery is no less inspiring when it is covered in snow. And we are certain that whatever you end up doing, you'll be especially pleased to return to the warmth of Breadloaf Mountain Lodge.
